Twenty Ninth Street New Development in Boulder, CO

9/30/2005

Twenty Ninth Street construction is underway!

The former Crossroads Mall has been removed and those large mounds of dirt are transforming into the buildings that will form Boulder 's newest retail district.

Progress has been made in the following areas:

  • The bank/retail building at 28th Street and Canyon Boulevard (where U.S. Bank will relocate to) is under construction.
  • The 820-space underground parking garage, south of Foley's and under the new 29th Street and central area buildings, is under construction.
  • Most of the site has been graded and fill has been added to remove it from the floodplain.
Construction is beginning on the private streets that will go through the site, including Canyon Boulevard and 29th Street.
  • The city has issued a building permit for a new Home Depot store at the northwest corner of 30th Street and Arapahoe Avenue.
  • Permits for seven buildings along 29th Street (south of Foley's) have either been issued or are in the final stages of city review.
  • The project site subdivision and final engineering applications have been approved, and the majority of the project has received final site, landscape and architectural plan approval.

Plans for the redevelopment of the 62-acre Twenty Ninth Street site were approved by the city and demolition began in September 2004.

Initial tenant lists have been made available by Westcor, including several restaurants and retailers. Major tenants include Century Theatres, Wild Oats (grocery store and corporate offices), Home Depot and Foley's. Additional tenant announcements are expected soon.
