ONE SPLENDID SUNDAY, A FUNDRAISER ON APRIL 15, 5-7 P.M. FOR BOULDER ARTS ACADEMY LOCATED IN THE DAIRY CENTER FOR THE ARTS.
BOULDER, CO – The Second Annual “One Splendid Sunday” takes place on April 15, 5-7 p.m. at The Dairy Center for the Arts in the Lobby, Performance Space and Gallery. A delightful evening of stellar musical performances and food and drink from some of Boulder’s hottest establishments are just part of what will make this Sunday so outstanding. Monies raised from the fundraiser go to support program enhancements and scholarships for Boulder Arts Academy students.
One Splendid Sunday is not a run-of-the-mill fundraiser. This event features a one-of-a-kind silent auction that allows the bidder to purchase musical acts for their own future event. For example, a blushing bride may come and shop for string quartet music for her wedding, or a church group could bid on a gospel act for a special service. This fundraiser provides the perfect opportunity to find quality musical acts for any special event, all while benefiting arts education in Boulder.
The evening features star performances.
Highlights include:
• A very special showing of an excerpt from “Uncle Jed’s Barbershop”, a new musical co-created by CSU Professor David Wohl for which he composed the music and co-wrote the lyrics. It was an official selection of the prestigious 2005 New York Musical Theater Festival, and was performed off-Broadway. • CU professor David Korevaar performs a set of six duets for piano by Grabiel Faure (1845-1924) with BAA teacher Jaun Chen. The suite was written for Debussy’s wife, Emma Bardac’s daughter Dolly.
Another fun and different aspect of the evening’s events is a “dueling” live auction giving attendees a chance to bid against each other in order to hear their favorite song sung or played. Dueling performers to include:
• Mr. Paul Waskiewicz BAA’s own Executive Director • Appolo Chamber Brass Quintet’s • Boulder Acoustic Society
